Arlington, Va. – Dominion National, a leading dental insurer and administrator of dental and vision benefits, is donating thousands of children’s dental care kits to local clinics and health departments throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. For the past eight years, in observance of February’s National Children’s Dental Health Month, Dominion has donated toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss and fun oral health facts to help promote the importance of maintaining oral health.

“Advocating the importance of preventive dental care and encouraging good dental habits at an early age can prevent serious and costly health conditions in the future,” said Dominion President Mike Davis. “Dominion is proud to provide children in the communities we serve with supplies to help support their oral health.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, tooth decay is the most common chronic disease among children in the United States and over 20% of children between the ages of 6 and 11 have at least one cavity in their permanent teeth.1,2 The American Dental Association founded National Children’s Dental Health Month, which brings together thousands of professionals, healthcare providers and educators to support this goal.
